Weekend in Houston

I was lucky to escape to Houston by myself for the long weekend, which led to lots of opportunities for picture-taking. Here are a few of my favorites from the Houston Zoo:

On Sunday, I went to the Museum of Fine Arts and Bayou Bend Gardens. It was blisteringly hot and humid at Bayou Bend, but still enjoyable and really lovely. I was a bit disappointed that the gardens weren't in full bloom, but they were still beautiful and hopefully these pictures prove it!

I head back to Round Rock tomorrow and can't wait to see my sweet friend Jessica on my way home and then my beautiful family. Absence definitely makes the heart grow fonder!

New Layout Using Jen Reed's Early Fall

I came across these photos of Alex while browsing pics last week and realized I never scrapped it. When Jen Reed showed me her new Early Fall papers, I grabbed them with these pictures in mind. Here is the resulting layout:

Alex's Preschool Graduation

Well, I managed to get through Alex's graduation without shedding a tear. I admit I was close at times, but there was no spillover. Alex did such an awesome job during the music program and also knowing where to stand, etc. I was very proud of him! I was also very happy with the school. I think King of Kings has really progressed in their graduation ceremonies. This one was very concise but still sentimental. The whole family enjoyed it!

Jinx, New LensBaby Photo

Had a procedure on my back done today so I haven't been behind the lens much, but I was able to grab this quick shot of our new kitten, Jinx. I used the LensBaby again. I love the artsy feel it gives my photos!

Alex's preschool graduation is tonight, so I'm sure I'll have some pictures to share tomorrow! I just pray I don't have to wipe away so many tears that I miss the good shots!

Flower Girl, Jen Reed Fresh Start DigiKit

I was on Jen Reed's Creative Team many moons ago and I am thrilled that she is back designing. I grabbed her kit, Fresh Start, from ScrapDish yesterday and fell in love with it, particularly this floral paper. I thought it went really well with the pictures of Judy in the wildflower field that I took recently. Here's the page I made:

Playing with My LensBaby, Round Rock Natural Light Childrens' Photographer

I got my LensBaby yesterday. Adorama Camera had a huge sale on the LensBaby and I got it for a steal! I took just a few shots so far. If you aren't familiar with it, it's a really neat lens that allows for creative shooting, with a pinpoint bit of focus and a lot of blur around that pinpoint of clear. It is definitely something I am not used to, so I am hoping it will help me shoot out of my box a bit. Here are a few shots I took yesterday using my new toy:

The {A} Boys, Round Rock Child Portrait Photographer

These boys are so energetic and fun! I don't think I've laughed so hard in months! It is hard for me not to smile even now as I look at these sweet boys' faces. They definitely kept me (and mom) hopping. Here are some pictures from our session. I'm glad the weather held out for us and it didn't rain!
